VANCOUVER – January 18, 2017 – Aprio Inc., Canada’s most trusted provider of board portal software, announced today that Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, North America’s first free standing pediatric hospice, has been awarded free software for three years through the Good Governance for All Award.
Aprio launched the Good Governance for All Awards in 2016 to recognize a deserving Canadian not-for-profit with board portal software to help the organization better engage their board directors and more simply and securely run their board meetings. Aprio Boardroom™ is used by Vancity, MEC, TELUS International, YMCA and many other crown corporations, credit unions, public companies and not-for-profits across North America.
“Canuck Place Children’s Hospice provides care for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families,” said Margaret McNeil, Chief Executive Officer of Canuck Place. “Our committed volunteer board members are always seeking opportunities to facilitate leadership and good governance and in turn make a difference for the children and families who are at the heart of our organization. We are very pleased to be recognized by Aprio through the 2016 Good Governance for All Award and to know that our board’s ability to contribute will be augmented by this software.”
Canuck Place provides specialized pediatric palliative care to over 670 children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Aprio chose Canuck Place as the award winner out of dozens of Good Governance for All nominations because of their clear goals to improve board access to information and simplify board meetings. With 16 board members, the volunteer board meets in person or by dialling in from various locations in B.C. Board meetings involve reviewing financials, quality and complexity of care, and risk management requirements. Canuck Place also operates six board committees as part of its governance model.
“For more than 10 years, Aprio’s mission has been to make good governance simple and affordable for every organization,” said Ian Warner. “Canuck Place is an extraordinary example of a not-for-profit with high aspirations for impact and limited resources to invest in technology and improved efficiency. We are thrilled to support Canuck Place and look forward to assisting many standout charities in the years ahead with our Good Governance for All Awards.”
