How progressive are Canadian credit unions when it comes to board data security, diversity, and use of technology?
Aprio conducted a benchmark survey at the National Conference for Canadian Credit Unions that revealed that the majority of Canadian credit unions identified their boards as being in the “progress stage” of implementing progressive board policies, with more defining themselves as frontrunners than early stage. Below are some highlights from the survey.
Most Canadian credit union boards reported that plans are in place to increase diversity.
More than 40% of surveyed credit unions reported that they conduct annual evaluations of their board members.
When it came to board security, the majority of credit unions defined it as a fundamental or top priority, with most choosing board portal software for maximum security.
While technology to protect board information security and support diverse recruitment and evaluation is readily available, a significant number of credit unions are still in the evaluation stage of considering board management technology.
